The Fort Langley Fire Hall blends old and new. By incorporating architectural aspects of the adjacent historical Hudson’s Bay Fort, the building uses a familiar vocabulary of early Canadian settlement. Based on the idea of the fort as an area of refuge, the massing of the building involves a cluster of smaller forms divided by function, similar to the clustering that occurs within a fort.
