A FIERO award winner in 2006 for its design and spatial planning, this project houses the Fire Department Headquarters for both career and volunteer crews. The design process involved extensive working sessions with senior members of the fire and rescue teams to create a building which represented the industrial history of this community. The combination of masonry and various forms of metal cladding give the firehall a durable yet creative approach to integrating simple materials.
