The single storey firehall was designed with an entirely wood structure incorporating large glulam beams, purlins and exposed plywood to create two large roofs which resembling the wings of a large bird and the Oyster River Fire Department emblem. Brightly colored metal cladding announces the firehall to the street while maintaining a relationship with the regional character and highlighting the wood detailing. This unique firehall was featured in a Canadian Wood Council brochure stressing the use of wood in post disaster protective services buildings.
