These major and minor renovations revitalized the lower level of the existing Student Union Building, through the extensive use of vibrant colour, and materials. An open and innovative plan, the newly designed space brings much needed energy to this large institutional building creating a more interactive and inviting social area in a relatively introverted basement space.

In addition, the dynamic renovation of “First Year Orientation” offices are highlighted by the use of an intense colour and a translucent glass art wall at the entryway. Lit from above, the glass wall provides a glowing surround to the cantilevered wood bench which passes through the structural glass entry doors.

The renovation of “Ubyssey” Newspaper office again integrates colour with a structural glass entry wall repeating the same architectural language into the design. This exposed concrete ceilings, corrugated metal wall cladding and wood floors combine the creative and industrial side of this production office.
